The Constant Problem On The Street

It is that time of the year again when snow will be flying and so will the snowplows down the street. And once again, this is the opportunity to remind many city dwellers of street parking issues. Over the past summer, there have been numerous complaints regarding the overuse of street parking, especially on the narrow side streets. Can you really blame the resident here? The neighborhood is obviously overcrowded. The apartment complex next to us obviously doesn’t provide enough parking space for its own resident and visitors, and in return, the rest of the street suffers.

Some of the issues brought up were that cars are often parked on oth sides of the street, making it difficult for residents to pass through. This situation also creates another hazard, since fire trucks and emergency vehicles may not be able to pass through. In addition it is harder to see children playing on and around the street in this situation, increasing the risk of accidents. There have been reports of vehicles damaged due to trash trucks in our neighborhood.

Either way, it is not a pretty sight, and I am not sure what people can do about it other than petition the city counsel to either enforce stricter parking regulations or start take away the free parking on the street privileges.
